You can tell when it's Fashion Week in Paris. Even as a newcomer, non-show-goer; you can tell. This city is always the center of fashion, but it accentuates to a heightened level during this particular week of September. You begin to notice things.

Like the guy donning a gold sequined suit combined with a tweed kilt. Or how girls on the metro are not only accompanied by their trapeze Céline bags, but now also by an alternatively-dressed camera man. All of a sudden, the naturally slim French girls get a little taller and thinner, until you realize that all those twiggy legs belong to the visiting models, as no Parisian girl would carry a map. Rain and wind become secondary factors when choosing the day's footwear, because even the most sensible of Valentino shoes are not waterproof. But most of all, you notice that people dare to wear what they want and, while there is a distinct Parisian style, there are no two ways of wearing it that are alike. Plainly said: everyone here is just so f*cking fashionable.
